The Model Ex 2 – .5 Extensometer is a highly developed instrument combining many desirable features with reasonable cost. The most outstanding feature is that the dial gage unwinds as the specimen elongates. Consequently, a sudden elongation or an extension beyond the dial gage capacity has no bad effect on the accurate over the full range of movement. (Compare this feature w ith most strain instruments). No auxiliary equipment or tools are required. The instrument clamps on at the correct gage length. The dial has a 1 1/2″ face and is easily read.

The instrument can be modified for larger diameter specimens, and special grips for holding flat specimens.

PLATE material: The lengths of specimens are in the rolling direction of the plate. The "V" groove is perpendicular to the rolling direction and is across the face of the plate. C1045 HR
All specimens with W1 designations are classified as a Tool Steel and are in the Water Hardening class. C1095
All specimens with 01 designations are classifiend as an Oil Hardening AISI type 01. C1095
